Brantley's 2015 Game-by-Game Numbers & Notes

i'm splitting up some of Michael's overall season stats/numbers, as i've done in the past, so that my readers aren't overwhelmed with one giant blog full of a profuse amount of information. you're welcome lol

this first blog mainly focuses on all of Michael's game-by-game numbers and notes for 2015. he battled through a lot of challenges this season, enduring 3 main injuries: a lower back strain, left shoulder inflammation, and right shoulder inflammation. his right shoulder never fully healed and by late September, the Indians decided to shut him down before the year was over. he missed more games this year than in any of his previous full seasons, yet somehow remained a productive contributor in the lineup. Michael played better while not at full strength than some players did healthy, batting at or above .286 for all but 8 games.

truth be told, 2015 ranked as one of Michael's best seasons in the majors. a new career high, new career low, and walk-off hit marked just a few of the exciting highlights of his campaign. while his stats weren't quite as extraordinary as they were a year ago, he still boasted a few team highs. and, even after a less than stellar finish in September, Michael once again owned the highest batting average (.310) on the team, giving him this honor for the 4th year in a row now. outstanding.

Michael played in 137 of 161* games this season and had
a hit in 104 of the 137 games that he played. Michael had various hitting streaks in 2015, made up of a 9-game and two 11-game hitting streaks, along with a 12-game road hitting streak. he also had 3 consecutive 3-hit games, 5 consecutive games with an RBI, 6 consecutive starts with multi-hits, and a 19 consecutive stolen base streak.

(*1 game in September was postponed due to rain. MLB rescheduled it for the day after the regular season ended, but it would only be played if the game was going to have any postseason implications. the Indians were eliminated from postseason play after all the games on October 1 concluded and therefore the PPD game was officially cancelled.)

Michael reached base safely in 117 games. he had several on-base and reached base streaks during the year, including two 9-game and two 11-game on-base streaks. he also had a couple road on-base streaks, consisting of a 9-game, 12-game, and 15-game streak. he safely reached base in 13 straight games as well.

Michael started 135 games and completed 123 games. he played 118 games in the outfield, starting all 118 games and completing 106 of those.

he played left field in 101 games, totaling 828.2 innings. as the left fielder, he started 94 games and completed 79 of those. he was subbed out of 7 games after playing 51 innings, he was a defensive switch (into left field) in 7 games and played 14 innings, he started 4 games and played 24.2 innings (before moving over to center field), he was lifted for a PR in 3 games after playing 23 innings, and he left 1 game early with an injury after playing 3 innings.

Michael played center field in 28 games, totaling 206.0 innings. as the center fielder, he started 24 games and completed 16 of those. he started 7 games and played 49 innings (before moving over to left field), he was a defensive switch (into center field) in 4 games and played 10.1 innings, and he was subbed out of 1 game after playing 6 innings.

he was the DH in 18 games. he started 17 games and completed all 17 of them. he was the PH for DH in 1 game.

Michael was a PH in 2 games, the PH for DH in 1 of those games, and lifted for a PR in 1 game.

he missed 19 games due to injury, including 6 games because of his lower back strain, 3 games because of left shoulder inflammation, and 4 games because of a jammed right shoulder. in addition, he was shut down for the final 6 games of the season due to right shoulder inflammation.

Michael got 5 complete games off to rest his back.

defensively, Michael was at a disadvantage this year--his lower back strain certainly affected his ability to run fast and far in the outfield. but he did the best he could and still managed to make some spectacular catches and strong throws to the infield. overall, he recorded 212 putouts, 8 outfield assists, and 1 double play. sadly, however, Michael committed 2 fielding errors as well, which gave him a .991 fielding percentage for 2015.

now here are my game-by-game numbers and notes for Michael Brantley's 2015 season:
